Banana trade between the tropical countries and the rest of the world started with Chiquita in 1870, when one of the creators of the company, Lorenzo Dow Baker purchased a small quantity of bananas in Jamaica and sailed them to Jersey City. The famous cartoon of Miss Chiquita, a face on one of the world’s first brands of bananas appeared in 1944 and promoted the nutritional benefits of the fruit. Nowadays  Chiquita is a leading global company with 21,000 employees across 71 countries.

Rea Fruits is an official partner of Chiquita in Crete, by which is provided with bananas and pineapples.
